The Weapons that Make the Navy SEALs so Lethal

As civilians, most of us will never get our hands on weapons of war unless we make the commitment to serve. However, that’s not stopping us from taking a hard look at the firepower one of the most deadly special forces units in military history pack to get the mission done.

Below are the weapons of choice for the one and only Navy SEALs.

The Handgun

SOCOM created a special commission for the HK Mk 23 SOCOM .45 ACP. Its accuracy is unparalleled, it is one of the most reliable weapons in its class, and its durability over time means that it is an investment with great ROI. In order to become a SEAL-worthy weapon, the HK Mk was put through torture, including tests for functionality without lubrication and with a saline mist.

The Rifle

The number one tool for any Navy SEAL is his rifle, and the Colt M4A1 5.56 NATO is the compact assault weapon of choice. It includes a SOPMOD kit of accessories that give a SEAL the ability to reconfigure itself for various missions. The Colt M4A1 can function as a semi automatic and as a fully automatic weapon, with a max firing capacity of 900 rounds per minute. The modern line of Colts has also been “future proofed” with the capability to accept more accessories that are currently in the testing phase.

The Long Range

The SR 25 serves as the basis for the Knight’s Armament Mk 11 SWS 7.62 NATO that serves as the primary weapon for Navy SEAL snipers. The Mk 11 was commissioned especially for SEALs like the aforementioned HK Mk 23 SOCOM .45 ACP. The Mk 11 is one of the most accurate, if not the most accurate, weapon in the field inside of 1,000 yards. However, it has a capacity for high level accuracy well beyond that distance.

The Submachine Gun

In high demand for use in counter-terror measures, the HK Mp5N 9mm NATO can fire from a locked or closed bolt. It has the capacity for full automatic, burst or semi automatic modes of fire. It is also incredibly accurate even near its firing capacity of 800 rounds per minute.
