NRA Slams ‘Two-Faced’ Pro-Gun Control Democrat in New Ad

In rural states, where gun ownership is not only commonplace but celebrated, even Democratic politicians understand that it’s beneficial to pay lip service to the Second Amendment.

However, for at least one legislator, this lip service is where his support for constitutionally protected gun rights abruptly ends.

This is the message of a newly released ad slamming Montana Democratic Senator Jon Tester, who is up for re-election this year. Tester has been known for supporting gun rights in his own state. However, as the ad below reveals, his voting record in Washington, DC tells a very different story.

“Contrary to what Jon Tester says in Montana, he has supported the gun control agenda of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer by voting in favor of gun control in Washington, D.C,” says Chris W. Cox, the executive director for the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action.

The ad points out that Tester is not the middle-of-the-road Democrat he presents himself to be. In fact, his voting record is almost lock-step with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and the rest of the anti-gun left.

In the past, Tester has supported prohibiting the legal transfer of firearms between friends and family members — an idea so radical that even the Obama administration never got around to it.

“Montana gun owners deserve a trustworthy, consistent advocate for their Second Amendment freedoms,” Cox added. “Jon Tester cannot be trusted to stand with President Trump and support our fundamental right to self-defense.”

The video below is a sobering reminder that far too many politicians are wolves in sheep’s clothing. It isn’t enough to trust their promises to uphold constitutional protections. It is incumbent on us as citizens of the United States of America to scrutinize their public service, and hold them accountable when necessary.

In the case of Montana voters who support the Second Amendment, this clearly means showing Tester the door in November.
